On 19 July Government released proposals for ending the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) Scheme and called for evidence on the future of small-scale renewable energy generation. Stakeholders are invited to respond to the propsals and the call for evidence by 13 September.
In summary the Government is proposing that:
- on 31 March 2019 all new generation and export tariffs will be ended;
- there will be no re-allocation of unspent funds between different technology bands and sizes;
- there will be some changes to the levelisation procedure to allow for metered export rates.
However, generators will have until 31 January 2020 to apply for FiT accreditation so long as they have their system commissioned and an MCS certificate issued by 31 March 2019.
