Today DECC published the details of the Renewable Heat Incentive to support domestic installations.
Basic details of the support is that it will be paid to eligible installations for 7 years and that the tariff rates are:
These rates are intended to compensate the median off gas grid household for the additional costs of the renewable heating system over the fossil fuel equivalent.
The is a welcome announcement by DECC. Their commitment to consumer protection in the policy measures, and the timely publication of the policy detail give all the stakeholders an opportunity to prepare for the launch and implement the necessary procedures to ensure consumers are appropriately protected.
RECC Chief Executive Virginia Graham said:
“It is encouraging to see DECC learning the lessons on consumer protection from the Feed-in Tariff. DECC must ensure that there are tough penalties for misleading and high-pressure sales practices, and that there are effective mechanisms for inspecting and resolving complaints.”
