Consumer satisfaction high for customers of solar panel installers

Posted: 12 December, 2011. Written by Ciaran Burns

Research by Consumer Focus shows that the vast majority of consumers are satisfied with their experience of solar panel installation. Around nine in 10 people are satisfied with their solar panel system, the sales approach, and cost of the system. Most people would recommend it to others, with two-thirds of consumers ‘very likely’ to encourage friends and family to sign-up and a fifth of people choosing their installer based on a personal recommendation.

However, there were also concerns identified by some consumers. The most widely experienced problems were difficulties or delays in the registration for the tariff and a lack of information from installers on getting the best out of the system. Even more worrying issues with misleading or pressurised sales tactics were also identified, although less widely experienced.
